Luis is a Brisbane/Meanjin-based freelance filmmaker well-known in the local art community for his ability to transform concepts into cinematic atmospheres. Luis started his creative career in sports broadcasting as a broadcasting director and creative lead, creating content and promotional material for major national sporting leagues and networks such as Rugby Australia, Water Polo Australia, Netball Queensland, Kayo Sports, and Stan Sports. Wanting to shift his focus to more creatively expressive work, Luis decided to dive deeper into the Brisbane underground art scene, leading photoshoots and films for local artists, musicians, and fashion brands.
In 2021, Luis co-founded ‘House of Iris’, holding workshops and exhibits showcasing over a hundred of Brisbane’s emerging and established photographers. The events have been part of the Brisbane Fashion Week AU and Brisbane Street Art Festival, acting as a platform for the local photography scene to reach new heights and audiences. A lot of Luis’ current work derives from his time spent collaborating with local artists, translating his surrounding influences into music videos, short films and commercials.
